These new paintings show moments from a local life; observing youth in the park, groups enjoying the coast and the simple joy of sunshine and living by the sea.
These themes have been recurring throughout my 40 years of painting in Deal. Most of my paintings have been distributed away from Deal and away from the UK though many also have been bought by people within Deal, a source of great pride and satisfaction.
I rarely achieve an overview of the entirety of my paintings, so I have recently embarked on painting and repainting a whole body of Deal paintings very rapidly to represent the range and fullness of local life.
I'm grateful to Arron and the New Street Gallery for this new experience of concentrating solely on painting with a prestigious exhibition in which to present these paintings all together.
