Earth Mother,
I started painting still life when I became a mother and had little daylight time to paint, still life was the obvious night-time subject matter.
The nudes all began as still life paintings, until it occurred to me that the shapes I painted within the still life represented figures. I then took the next logical step and set up a life-class here in Deal from which to study the figure.
The titles of the nudes came about because I joined a psychology evening class with my husband, and the nudes I was painting seemed to be a personification of Freud's definitions of the psyche!
